Lot 100 | Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "DOWNTON HALL" As carried by a Collett designed 49xx class ex GWR 4-6-0 No "4994" built at Swindon Works in February 1931. Allocations included Penzance, Reading and Didcot from where it was withdrawn in March 1963. Cut up at Cashmore's Newport, South Wales 01/64. This is the left hand plate. Downton Hall is a privately owned 18th Century Country House built about 1733 and is located at Stanton Lacey, near Ludlow, Shropshire. |
