Lot 8 C/I Steam Locomotive Smokebox Number plate "70005" As carried by a Robert Riddles designed BR 4-6-2 7P6F named "JOHN MILTON" built at Crewe Works in April 1951. Allocations included Stratford, Norwich Thorpe, March, Willesden, Aston and Carlisle Kingmoor from where it was withdrawn in July 1967. Cut up at Campbell's, Airdrie 01/68. This item was purchased direct from BR Stoke-on-Trent in November 1967 and has never been in auction before and comes with the appropriate bill of sale. John Milton was an English Poet and Intellectual (09/12/1608 - 08/11/1674) who served under Oliver Cromwell. Front restored a long time ago.
