Lot 220 An ex LMS Signal Box Name Board. "BRICKYARD CROSSING". Cast letters on wood. Located on the Birmingham Camp Hill avoiding line between St. Andrews Jct and Lifford Jct. This location is a well-known to rail enthusiasts/trainspotters in the Birmingham/Midlands area as Steam freight trains normally required banking assistance at this point due to the steep climb and was just a short distance from Saltley locomotive shed and which also gave views of the Birmingham to London line. The board was purchased privately from BR and collected from Saltley Station in March 1966 it has been in the vendor?s possession since his father purchased both sides for the princely sum of 10/- shillings (Ten Bob). One side unfortunately had deteriorated to such an extent that it had to be broken up however the remaining board remains in good condition. This is an iconic location features in one of the well -known Philip Hawkins recent painting of a 9F with the Signal box in the background. A wonderful opportunity to own a piece of Birmingham history it measures 10" x 89" and is accompanied by photos of the box and boards from the sixties.
