Lot 42 Brass Engraved Diesel Locomotive Worksplate "LONDON NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY Co, No 1973 DONCASTER 1944". As carried by the LNER 350hp 0-6-0 Shunter No. 8002. Accepted into stock at Stratford 22/3/45 and renumbered 15002 in April 1950. Spent most of its working life hump shunting in Whitemoor Yard. Withdrawn from Crewe 08/67 and cut up by A King Norwich 10/68. Ex-loco condition. Amazing that they gave a shunter the same style plate as would have been found on classic A4 steam locos! Complete with paperwork confirming provenance from the National Railway Museum.
