Lot 2 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "ASSAM". As carried by a W. Stanier designed ex LMS Class 6P 4-6-0 Number "45583" built by the North British Locomotive Co, Glasgow, in November 1934. Allocations included Glasgow Polmadie, Carlisle Upperby, Crewe North, Edge Hill, Carnforth, Llandudno Jct, Aston and Warrington Dallam from where it was withdrawn in October 1964. Cut up at the Central Wagon Co Ince, Wigan 06/65. There are six holes in the nameplate which has a thinner lettering style from the NB build. Back restored a long time ago. Original paint on rim, flaking back to brass. Plate has received a light varnishing to the lettering to save on brass cleaning. Recovered by the late vendor at the end of steam and never before offered at auction.
