Lot 101 | Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "EARL HAIG". As carried by a Riddles designed BR Britannia class 4-6-2 No 70044, built at Crewe Works in June 1953. Allocations Norwich Thorpe, Longsight, Crewe North, Crewe South, Leeds Holbeck, Newton Heath and Stockport Edgeley from where it was withdrawn in October 1966. Cut up at T.W. Ward, Beighton, Sheffield 02/67. Earl Haig was a senior officer of the British Army in the First World War. Lightly polished front, ex-loco rear. |
