Lot 168 Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "KING GEORGE II" as carried by a Collett designed Ex GWR 4-6-0 No. 6005 built at Swindon works in July 1927. Allocated to only Wolverhampton Stafford Road and Old Oak Common, it was withdrawn from the latter in November 1962. Cut up at Cashmore's, Great Bridge 10/63. This plate is the first time in auction. George reigned as King of Britain and Ireland from 1683-1760, born and bred in Northern Germany he is the most recent monarch to be born outside of Great Britain. Vendor purchased direct from Swindon. Front restored, back ex-loco condition.
