Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate "COUNTY OF CARMARTHEN" as carried by a Hawksworth designed Ex GWR 4-6-0 No. 1009 with extended side plate built at Swindon works in December 1945. Allocations included Carmarthen, Plymouth Laira, Neyland, Swindon Test Plant, Bristol Bath Road and St. Philips Marsh from where it was withdrawn in February 1963. Cut up at Cashmore's Newport, South Wales 08/63. This plate is the first time in auction. Vendor purchased direct from Swindon. Front restored, back ex-loco condition.
