Description

Diesel Locomotive nameplate LEYBURN.  As carried by Class 20 20070 and Class 37 37668. The nameplates were handmade by the late Tony Wyldebore, a fitter at Thornaby depot, and unofficially applied to 20070 whilst allocated to Thornaby sometime between 09/86 and 09/88. The nameplates were then officially transferred to 37668 08/98 and carried until removed in August 1990. 20070 was new to 65A Eastfield as D8070 06/61, withdrawn from Toton 04/91, and scrapped at M C Metals, Glasgow 12/92. 37668 was new to 86A Cardiff Canton 01/65 as D6957 later becoming 37257 04/74 and 37668 05/88. Still in service with West Coast Railways. Leyburn is a village on the Redmire line.
