| Electric Locomotive Nameplate ARCHIMEDES.As carried by Class 76 E26046 later becoming 76046 02/74. New to 36B(W) 08/52, it was named at Gorton Works on 02/05/59 without ceremony. The nameplates were removed sometime between 1968 and 1970. Withdrawn from Reddish 11/80 and cut up at C.F. Booth, Rotherham during 03/83. Archimedes (287-212BC) was a Greek mathematician renowned for his work in geometry. Rectangular cast brass in good condition. |
