Brass Steam Locomotive Nameplate KING’S COURIER. As carried by a Peppercorn/Thompson designed ex LNER A1 4-6-2 No 60144 built at Darlington works in March 1949. Allocations included Copley Hill, Ardsley, Grantham, Kings Cross and Doncaster from where it was withdrawn in April 1963. Cut up at Doncaster works 05/63. KING’S COURIER was an English thorough bred Stallion horse born in 1897 and was famous for winning the Doncaster Cup in 1900. Polished face with original dinks and knocks on the rims. Size 71in 7.75in. Engraved names (for template) to back of plate read: Tudor Minstrel, Lord Farringdon, Irish Elegance, Hornets Beauty, Patrick Stirling, Madge Wildfire, Edward Fletcher, Sir Walter Scott, Scottish Union, Guy Mannering and St Johnstoun.
