A GWR Castle Class Locomotive Chimney off "7000 -VISCOUNT PORTAL" purchased from
Cashmore's Scrap yard at Great Bridge for £10.00 in 1964. The original buyer
was visiting the yard and noticed the loco being scrapped and approached the
foreman to ask if he could buy the chimney , while waiting it was burnt off
and just left to fall on the floor which caused it to fracture, hence the
welding work noticeable on the chimney today. Another rare survivor.

G.W.R. LOCOMOTIVE NAMEPLATE "FRITWELL MANOR" Plus brass cabside
7815 .Designed by Collett the first of this small class of only thirty 4-6-0s built at Swindon in 1938 with this
example, 7815, entering traffic in January 1939 at a cost of just under £5000.
Although first allocated to Gloucester shed, throughout its working life the
locomotive was based at a variety of sheds across the Western region
including, 85A Worcester, 86C Cardiff, 83D Plymouth, 89C Machynlleth and 87G
Carmarthen before finally returning home to be withdrawn at 85B Gloucester in
October 1964. It was then stored at 85C Gloucester (Barnwood) until Jan 1965.
Cut up at Hayes, Bridgend Feb 1965. The Manors are well represented in the preservation
stakes with no less than nine of the class surviving. Sadly that list does
not include Fritwell Manor. The actual Manor itself dates from the Norman
Conquest and is located about 9 miles south of Banbury in Oxfordshire. Front
cleaned and polished only, back totally Ex Loco Condition.

CABSIDE NUMBER PLATE "3457
25NC" from the 3ft 6in

plate. Allocated to Beaconsfield Loco Shed, Kimberley, for use over the main
line south to De-Arr, and by the eighties worked out of Warrenton, where it
later spent a period in store. Reported to be still in existence and stored

A Brass Italian State Railway Rectangular Numberplate No "471.135". As carried by a Class 470, 0-10-0
freight locomotive, which were extensively re-built to a more orthodox
layout. It can be seen that the numberplate was altered by erasing the "0"
and casting in a new digit "1". The loco which bore this number had
been totally destroyed by Allied bombing during the Second World War, in the
yard of Foligno station, in Umbria. During this campaign, many locos and much
rolling stock was destroyed, mainly in the central part of Italy, from Naples northwards. A serving soldier came across this loco which had been bombed at the
above location, and being a railway enthusiast put the plate in his kit bag
and eventually brought it back to the UK. Good condition.
