Sold to Hunslet in 1960 and rebuilt as works No 3878 - 1961. Subsequently sold to the NCB at Maerdy Colliery, South Wales were it was numbered No 3. Scrapped June 1971. Ex Loco condition. |

Early Brass Oval "AVELING & PORTER Royalty Worksplate, together with boiler washout instructions plate from the same engine. Aveling & Porter No 2846 was an 8nhp agricultural locomotive (combined/convertible), which was supplied to Hornsey Local Board on 1st June 1891. On 20th October 1902 it was resold to the Wingham Agricultural Implement Company, Kent. It was fitted with a scarifier (No 620). Both plates mounted on a back board. Together with its accompanying boiler washout instruction plate. The engine long since scrapped, this is a delightful early plate example, there being only 15 Aveling Porter examples that are earlier than this surviving in preservation. |
