The postcards are mainly unwritten and in better average condition than normally found, and includes many very difficult to find postcards.
The individual values amount to a sum in the region of £6,000, however the harder task would be to find them all.

C/I Steam Locomotive Smoke box Number plate "6023" As carried by a Collett designed ex GWR King Class 4-6-0 named "KING EDWARD II" built at Swindon Works in June 1930.Allocations included Plymouth Laira, Newton Abbot, Old Oak Common and Cardiff Canton from where it was withdrawn in June 1962.Purchased by Woodhams of Barry in December 1962 it remained there for nearly twenty years but eventually left as the 159th Locomotive to depart from Barry. After a number of failed preservation projects it finally ended up in the safe hands of the GWS at Didcot in 1989 where after a number of years it has once again become a working locomotive and has been painted in a very attractive Blue. The plate has an original back and the front numbers have been lightly polished this is the first time this item has been in auction and is therefore a wonderful opportunity to own a piece of history. |
